Our Curriculum

Welcome to Foulds Preschool!

We understand the importance for children to be introduced to as many new experiences as possible, to expand their imaginations, fuel their creativity, and learn about the world...so our time together is spent in a combination of indoor and outdoor activities, educational trips, and engaging play. Foulds Preschool follows the early years foundation stage curriculum framework to ensure that every child reaches their true potential whilst in our care.

Through play,  children learn about the world and themselves...they develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills so our educational play activities set strong foundations for our children's success as learners.

Of great importance to us is to teach our children about cultural diversity, equality, and kindness: we celebrate a full calendar of cultural holidays and teach the children the significance of an inclusive society that values and appreciates differences to create a healthy, inclusive learning environment

The resources that have been selected at Foulds Preschool are mindfully curated to help stimulate social, emotional and intellectual development as well as to improve language and literacy skills.

At Foulds Preschool we meet Ofsted requirements with our educational provision for children which is based on seven areas of learning...

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

We encourage children to develop positive self esteem giving support in order to form positive relationships with regard and respect for others whilst promoting the codes of acceptable behaviour.

Physical Development

We provide activities that allow children to be active and to develop their fine and gross motor skills with co-ordination and control. Children are supported in their understanding of the importance of being healthy and their choices in regard to food.

Communication and Language

Our aim is to ensure children have opportunities to experience a rich language environment to develop their confidence in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a wide range of situations.

Literacy

We encourage children to link sounds with letters and give support for reading and writing skills. The setting provides a wide range of of resources for example, books, poems, writing equipment enabling children to develop interest in this area.

Mathematics

We provide children with opportunities to develop their skills in counting, shape, space and measure and problem solving.

Understanding the World

Throughout the year we celebrate various festivals and celebrations enhancing children’s knowledge about the world and the people that live in it. We ensure that children have access to information, communication technology equipment to support their learning and development.

Expressive Arts and Design

We provide children with a wide range of materials to explore and play, in addition encouraging children to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through art, music and movement, dance and role-play.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

We have a qualified member of staff who is responsible for co-ordinating the provision of education for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is the named Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) and will be introduced to you when viewing the nursery.

All children entering nursery are assessed from the first day they start, this is continuous throughout their time at the nursery.

All the children are treated as equals and those with SEN will follow the Early Years Foundation Stage with the other children in the nursery.
